there are two lakes the one nearest the car park is known to have the bigger fish and luncheon meat on a hair rig leisure is good and the other lake furthest away from the car park is really good at fishing with bread on the top once the carp get going they dont stop, its like a feeding frenzy!!

  • ross hudson

simply just use bread on the surface with dog biscuits or something to bait it up with trust me it works me and my mate caught about 30 carp between us in 1 day :)

  • aidan  - fish

in the summer they like floating bread or paste.
in the winter a feader with a dead magot. p.s this is for both lakes

  • george

bread and sweetcorn in the top lake is the best bate to use

  • alfie

feeder on nearest lake to car park on lunchoen meat.

Hi me and my freind are going fishing and i wondering how much it is to fish in the back lake and what is the best bait
    ??

  • tony

the bottom is soft silt and the bait sinks into it . Both lakes are shallow and over stocked . Its over fished and the carp have small scarred mouthes as a result .
Its the only place I know where you can get a surface feeding frenzy all year round .
fire out about 5 dog buiskits every five mins with a surface rig of 8lb line and a 5ml pop up on a hair rig with size 14 hook has won me four fishing competitions there with a best weight of 192 lbs in severn hours .

me and my mate went to the top lake on tues 13th sept 2011, got there about 8am and left just b4 6pm and it was pretty deserted all day however i got 26 medium size (4-8 lb) and he caught 25 of the same altho we did get some fair sized roach aswell, i'd rec floating bread on surface coz its like a feeding frenzy B)

  • liam  - help!

hello i want to fish claverhambury but want a way to bring the bigguns in? any help?!?

  • Anonymous  - bigguns!!

The bottom lake has the biggest fish apparently, but if you go to the top lake i'd say that the best way is to just try feeding the swim then casting out about 30ft on a ledger, hope this helps!!!!!

  • liam  - bait

what bait should i use on bottom lake?

  • liam  - bottom lake

fished the bottom lake just use a waggler or even better a controller float with a floating dog biscuit every couple of minutes just throw in a few biscuits and u watch the carp come and take the bait dont get frustrated if they dont take yours and just take the others they are wise but leave it there and suddenlly they will take it!

  • Kyle  - how much does it cost

I want to fish at clavenhambury tomorrow do you think maggots are good to use and i don't know how much it cost :( :(

  • liam

i think it costs about 7pound for a kid and 10 for adult

and no maggots dont really fish well if u can get them feeding on top use a bit of bread round a size 12 hook. if not ive fished well on corn or spicy meats hope this helps :)

  • tommy

i think it fish well i catch a 10 also 14 pound carp of the top i all way use bread i use curry on the the meat and i had a 8 pound carp i think it is a really good lakes i like bottom lake every time i never fish top lake i always fish there :) :)
    :)

i have fished the lake many times and had a 10lbs leather carp,11lbs 4oz common and about 6 other carp ranging from 6-8lbs, the top lake you should use bread on the surface works the best! bottom lake i would recommed a method feeder with a maggot, or a hair rig with a spicy boilie! and i also have the lake rocord! B)

Hey guys, Fished claverhambury bottom lake many times, mustard lake. Caught a whopping 12lb carp on my 6ft rod floating a fag. The rod was in a semi-circle 160 degree angle, lucky to come out alive. Also had a 21lb on thge bottom my PB. Great lake. My only problem is the bloke who collects the money is an old ****.

as ive said before the winning combination on the top lake is bread/dog biscuits on the surface me and 2 mates had 250 fish in 1 day, or if your looking for the bigger fish of the top lake thn a method feeder with maggots as hook baait.
the bottom lake is very good on boilies but a method feeder works better you can also use bread floating on the surface works well but you have to try to get out into the center of the lake to get to the fish,on the bottom lake it is better to try and get in between little gaps that arnt swims! do a little bit of stalking with a feeder works really well for me!

  • Mike Hunt  - Lake Record?

Hey guys. This lake is exceptional, going to be visiting again in the summertime. I haver had many fish of a descent size from the lake, had many double figure fish 12lb, 14lb, 15lb 18lb, 19lb and my pb 23lb. Can somebody tell me the LAKE RECORD? I have heard its around 28lbs if so, i will catch that fish.

  • Anonymous

i hold the lake record of the bottom lake of 86lbs catfish, and the carp record is 36lbs

  • LIAM

this lake is great for begginers that dont care what their carp look like but me myself like a challenge and prefer the reward with a nice looking 20... the old guy that comes round s a mug that knws nothing about fishing and purely cares about the money the fish have mouths like parrots but if ur looking to catch fish for fun this lake is the one for u!

  • Taylor  - What bit to use

Wot is the best bait to use on the first lake (nearest to the car park) coz its basically my first time fishing there and don't know wot to use
