 Started fishing here as it was close to our caravan site, three small lakes i fished mainly for the tench.A little scruffy but fishing OK the two small lakes ideal for waggler or pole, children friendly if accompanied by adults. The slightly larger lake has some carp in it,bream, roach, etc, unfortunately this lake has had Otter predation problems.Overall fine for a days fishing day ticket price is competitive they are not greedy there!...One other problem, it has recently been noticed the water level in the larger lake Seems to be Dropping since work carried out by the EA in the autumn of 2010...Worrying!.

 We have fished it a few times this year (2011) at weekends, the price has gone up recently but only by a minimum amount of a pound, but Look at the notices when you first arrive.Times are now from 7.00am till 8.00pm someone comes around twice on average a day to take your day ticket money. It seems to have had a bit of a face lift since i visited on holiday last year, when we took our camper-van to Cromer .Certainly not quite so much rubbish laying around or noisy teenagers/kids making a nuisance of themselves. The lakes have not fished well since this dry spell from what i hear, certainly the largest one is about 2ft down on it's normal level. The average depth were we fished was about 3ft we could not find any deeper water but did have some sport with roach, bream and a few tench. Not Sure about the Otter problems reported earlier so cannot comment on that,There was No protective fence though, but we did not see the (Black Death) as some call them otherwise known as that pest the Cormorant that was at least a bit of good news. So lets hope it improves but does not go the way of the commercials. Know what i mean! :S

 This place was close to the road side as i remember from last year thought it was a builders yard at first!,so i was not surprised at the look of it.It did fish alright when we were there but was told that the carp only went to about 18 to 20lb not the thirty plus some had said.A bit of a dads and kids place plus some real undesirables lots of pole/float fishing with the usual bang bang noise one bloke asked if he could borrow a mallet!!!. Alright if you just want a few hours to fill in time, rubbish every where glad to hear that is changing.Could be a good day ticket water if it's managed better could do with a tidy up .Some idiot was cutting down all the vegetation cover and there was goose crap all over the place.I did notice an electric fence Otters!!?. :(

  • c fraser  - gimmingham lakes

i fish the lakes alot and although it is quite noisy with undesirables the thing i notice is its changing for the better it is a bit worrying that the water levels are dropping as there is concern for the fish but i know the manager and he will be keeping an eye on the levelsthe goose crap never bothers me as i go ther for the fishing and i'm happy with the developments there.

  • Gareth Gotts  - changes at gimingham

gimingham under new management, due to this change in management improvements are on there way, night fishing is set to return for adults only mid july 2011 ish, there will be a zero tolerance attitude on badly behaved children or line or rubbish laying about. We are in the process of refurbishing swims (this is on its way in the very near future) we have a new facebook page, Gimingham fishing lakes, and hope to get some good pics on there of whats being caught any more info please contact on 01263 722234.

  • Greg Barker  - ages and biggest

what is the minimum age of a night fish because i herd it was 16 if accompanied by an adult and what has recently been coming out and the biggest in there cos i might come one weekend sometime soon

  • Steve Gapper  - Gimingham

My fishing pals and i had a look around this small lake complex a few years ago as we are up the road a way at a caravan site, glad to hear the place is going to be tidied up!.This year we chatted to a couple of people fishing, not much caught... but that could be due to a number of things?.Day ticket price was competitive, parking for the disabled was not apparent. We were told that night fishing would start, hope that means proper order is maintained and the night ticket price is also competitive? for that type of fishery.

  • Brian Farrel  - Gimingham lake changes

When we were going to do a day and over/night fish on the larger lake a number of years ago before the otter problems. We saw some right [dodgy characters] and decided to go some where else.Basically we did not like the idea of our fishing tackle/ belongings being stolen during the night or worse.Pleased to see it has been stated the place is now under new management and that trouble will not be tolerated. :side:

  • Mark  - Fishin

Gimmingham has the potential to be a v. Good day ticket water I've fished there with my boys alot the past few years and they've always had a great days fishin.looking forward to doing a night on there will be interesting to see how the place behaves at night and hopefully the undesirables will of found new places to frequent!

  • Glenn  - Grimingham

This place needs a right clean up crap all over the place at least it did not have a load of stupid rules :X .Once we got the litter cleared from the swims and settled in, the fishin was not to bad.Don't fancy night fishin it though a lot of small tench and bream caught on the feeder and only low doubles for carp just not worth it.

  • Craig Jacobs.

Fished it last year what a difference to now! you can see that things are on the up and about time cant wait to see more improvements. There is now a board with rules on it surprised at the barbless one, but it does not mention Landing nets or Disgorgers!.We wanted to fish overnight but was not going to pay £10.00. :side:

I fished the lake 3 times in 2009 and yes it was very noisy at night there was a'lot of children fishing that I could see should of been supervised by an adult. and for the rubbish situation that invited rats A'LOT of rats. but saying all that I remember the fishing to be quite good had the same 26lb twice and had another 3 over the 20 mark and a shed load of tench in just 3 sessions. its just needs some TLC for the next couple of years and to be restocked, electric fence, no kids without adults and a £6 day price and £10 24hr. then i would be back in a shot as the tench fishing was great

  • Eddy  - gimingham

My brother and me fished this very recently for £5.00 each after a few years away, carp on the largest lake were not showing but we did have a lot of smallish bream and tench. It seems from the info' we got that no carp over 20lb have been caught for a few seasons may be the predator issue is raising it's ugly head again!.Certainly the discipline on the idiot brigade seems to be working and a lot less litter now.Badly needs fencing to protect the fish, small mammals, birds etc, :pinch: .

  • Ed  - Gimingham Lakes

Fished it the other night over night and had a lot of bream and tench up to about 5lb and had a mirror of 15lb, not caught anything over 15lb although have heard of a 26 and 24lb come out this summer. But yet to see a twenty!!! The lakes are looking a lot cleaner and is looking as though other changes will be made.

  • Arron Trask

Turned up to see if i could do a bit of short session late season carp fishin on the largest lake yesterday afternoon had not fished it for months.Could not believe it the lake had lost a Lot of water in one place you could see the muddy bottom in front of two swims,it looked as if it had lost about 2 to 3ft of water!.I think you could have walked out to the island....Bad News...Wots going on? :(

  • Andy  - wots going on?

:cheer: No panic the lake is having some replacement/improvement pipe work going in, will improve things should be completed soon but give them a call to find out when. :)

  • dan gotts

Hi mate I think you'll find it had actually dropped 8 inches, I should know as i set the levels !!
It is currently running 6 inches lower than it always used to as to protect the banks.
Feel free to walk to the island but make sure you bring your swim wear

Don't let the 'bad press' this lake has got over the past years put you off trying it now! Yes things got abit out of hand when Brownie was in charge (which i put solely down to his age - he was a heck of a owner in his prime) but alot of the above problems are now non existent.

Since the take over things are definately on the up. The place is alot tidier now and free from any trouble. Unfortunately there is still alot of goose crap and the geese do make alot of noise but I go for the fishing and not the home comforts.

In terms of fish size - I'm not 100% sure what the fish go up to! This summer i've physically seen 3 over 20lbs come out and weighed (the biggest being 28lb), although there have been plenty rumors of more over 20's coming out - personally i'm slightly dubious on whether over 30's still exist. The lake certainly did have a good stock of over 30's around 10 years ago. Alot of people have claimed that the bigger carp were picked off by otters, although how true these otter rumors are i'm not sure - its unlikely it could have continued unnoticed for long enough to wipe out such a healthy stock of big carp. More likely the larger carp found it difficult to sustain their size and weight when the angling custom of the lake (and in turn amount of bait thrown into the water) rapidly declined. Yes there is alot of natural food in the lake, but it is very densly stocked.

The new owners are working on refurbishing the swims and have already added stocked (around 40 16lb carp were recently introduced, with a larger quantity of arouns 10lbs prior to that). My advice is give this lake a go, especially given the lack of lakes in north norfolk with carp this size/that let you night fish.

  • D. Ingle  - Gimingham, nr Cromer, Norfolk.

;) On short holiday breaks i have fished this small lake? complex in May, July and again in late September just for the carp. i can only say that i personally caught 7 fish over the three sessions the water level was a little low.The largest went 12lb 1oz the rest were under 9lb, a larger fish was caught by another angler 16lb 9oz but i did not witness it.Talking to anglers on the bank at times my impression was yes the place is in the process of being tidied up {it needs it] and the yob/kids situation was being addressed.

But as to the carp non of the anglers i spoke to had had a double out but one did say that a double of around 21lb had been weighed.A lot of nice tench, bream caught with some largish roach, perch.Clearly it needs investment and glad to see that that is in process the day ticket is sensibly priced.

As to the otter/predator issue cormorants were mentioned as well, one bloke spoke of seeing once two dead carp with just a few bites out of them otters?.Certainly this deadly animal has been reported in the area.As for the cormorants we all are only to aware of what damage they do.

  • Mark j  - Short session

I recently went for a short session and had a really productive session 6 nice sized tinka's but no carp! I'd like to think that Gareth has it in mind to re-stock the complex and bring out gimmingham's full potential

  • Doug Grey  - Lets hope so

Did a day's fishing myself as you say it needs some improvements on Stock and Depth!. Still some rubbish lying around but that's down to those so called (LAZY) fishermen who have been allowed to fish in those swims. It needs further work and maybe a part time bailiff? or at least someone on a regular patrol. I don't know about the predation issue's but i can see how easy it is for at least one apex killer to get in there.

  • Mark j  - Night sesh

Was just wondering has anyone done a night and how did they get on?planning one for around the end of march any ideas or tips would be much apprieciated

  • Ben  - Weather

If the weather is Mild and there is a Decent Depth of water you might stand a chance, but remember there's a Lot of tench and bream in that lake.We night fished twice late season last year and blanked. :( As for carp we've only seen low teen doubles.

  • Matthew Catton

I Fish this lake very often and have had some decent fish my most memarable catch was a tench weighing seven and a half pound. There are a good stock of tench and bream but lacking on the carp. Overall the fishery seems to be improving. :)

  • dan gotts  - re: Gimmingham lakes

hi water levels in the big lake all sorted now, they were dropped 8 inches to repair banks but all back to normal now
