Could I have details of where the lake is-- post code?

    Can bait be obtained nearby?
What is the cost of a day ticket? -- one rod.

Where is the best area for general fishing?

  • danny  - hamworthy lake

hi peter the lake is pretty straight forward to find if u get into poole go over the bridge into hamworthy and if u no where rockley park is head straight to there if not then once u have gone over the bridge follow the road to the right go straight and u will come to some lights with a betting shop on the corner to ur left if u do a left there and follow it round and go over the cross road and follow signs for lake pier and u will find it there

ive been down to the lake afew times and fished but with no luck.Im new to the area and a keen carp angler,I reckon with a good bit of weather and knowledge of the lake i shud see how good the fish really are!One thing im not to happy with is that when ive been down the lake theres been dog walkers going round the lake chucking stones sticks etc in and there dogs charging in after them!!!.Now to any carp angler when u set up camp and you have spent time and dollor getting ready, then spending several hours there, for some dog walker to walk along see that you are fishing and start chucking things in knowing that there dogs are gonna follow.I know many carp anglers and i dont think i know one that would be impressed by this!they shud have signs round the lake politely saying keep ur dogs under control or on lead.If anyone has got same prob then say sumthing maybe someone might listen thanx for reading richard peters

before i go further i am a angler. The lake at hamworthy is situated on HAMWORTHY COMMON the local residents have been walking their dogs long before anyone realised that there were carp in the lake also you will find local kids fishing or maybe swimming when they get bored i would suggest that if you want exclusive carp fishing join a syndicate and leave our lake for the enjoyment of all users of the COMMON

  • uk carp baits  - Hamworthy lake - blue pool

Hello all, I have fished that lake for 13 years now and have had the pleasure of catching most (not all) of its jules, there are deff some prizes in there to be had, its not the easiest place to fish, with dog walkers and dogs wiping your rods out and in the summer with people coming down and swimimg right over your baited spot, one year i hooked a new PB its name was charlie, a 70lb colly dog. how on earth it happened i dont know, but put up with all this and its worth it, i have moved on to pastures new now but the place will always hold me for as long as the carp bug is alive in me, If you want any info then get in touch and id be more than happy to point you in the right directions.

Bllody hell mate, you need to chill out- like you said its a common and there for EVERYONE to enjoy, whether its swimming, dog walking or fishing, If anything the REAL angler clear up the place and keep it tidy- look at it from our point of view- when were walking to the lake with our gear and we tread in a pile of dog shit left by dog walkers on the COMMON its not very nice. your tarring everyone with the same brush....

  • richard peters  - bleady dog walkers¡¡¡¡¡

thats right mate u tell him, fink we on same level.i live in shaftesbury now so dont fish there anymore.just fink dat dog walkers could be more considerate n the way mateys talking u wuld fink he owns the lake¡

  • BSTN Fshr  - Fishing at Hamworthy

Have fished at Hamworthy now around 5 times this year and caught 2 fish in total.

Each time I was going down about 6pm when it got quieter and fishing til around 10-11.

Caught a 21lb and a 19lb common carp so far from the lake. Best to head down there in the evening when the dog walkers and kids have died down, as I can agree with all of the above posted.

Nice for a free big lake, but like mentioned before, this lake has been rinsed for its fish over the years due to bad baliffing, and wessex angling stopping the very kind free stocking of the lake but like i said for a free lake its defiantly worth a go - and if u get something on ur line, i can guarntee you its going to be a big boy.
