Fishing at Trawnish Lodge:
A boat may be hired nearby for fishing on Lough MacNean. This lake is well-known for coarse fishing and hosts a pike fishing contest each
year. Five miles down the road is Lough Melvin which is famous for its trout and salmon and home to three distinct species of brown trout, the ferox, the gillaroo and the sonaghan - all genetically distinct, and the sonaghan found only in Fermanagh. A gilly service is available on Lough Melvin.
Fishing is possible in this part of Ireland from February to September. Lough Melvin opens early for the elusive spring salmon and the grilse appear in June. Lough Erne opens in March when anglers seek trout on the early duckfly.

The adventurous angler can take to the hills and climb to the many isolated lakes in search of wilder fish.
What else does the area offer?
Apart from the fishing there are several golf courses in the area and many well-trodden walking and cycling trails. The area is also known for its potholing and hill climbing. The Corralea Activity Centre and Water Park is only 2 miles away on the lakeside and there are plenty of activities laid on for youngsters, who may join by the day.
The beautiful atlantic beaches of Co. Sligo and Donegal are only 50 mins. away by car. The bustling county town of Enniskillen is well supplied with excellent shops and a busy theatre. There are several interesting National Trust houses in the area and the Marble Arch Caves - European Geopark.

Nearer to home, just 6 miles away, is the lakeside village of Belcoo with above average village amenities and several restaurants - and two minutes from there, in Blacklion, is the world famous MacNean House & Restaurant run by the TV Chef Neven Maguire.
The beautiful sandy beaches of Co. Sligo and Donegal are only 50 mins. away by car.
